Looking South West from the Chapel. The box vault near the center of the photo is that of Samuel Humphreys, Chief Naval Constructor at the Washington Navy Yard (d. 1846). He was the son of Joshua Humpreys who built the U.S. Constitution. The large monument to the left is that of his son, General Andrew Atkinson Humpreys (d. 1883) who served with great distinction throughout the Civil War. From the Chapel looking Southwest
