The angel on the right is the monument of Peter Pitchlynn, principle chief of the Choctaw nation (1860 - 1861) and thereafter representative in Washington up to the time of his death. Dickens met him on a steamboat travelling up the Mississippi and wrote of him "... as stately and complete a gentleman of nature's making as ever I beheld."
