Looking North from Range 98 Site 160 towards the Arsenal Monument. On June 17, 1864 an explosion occurred in a building where 108 women were manufacturing cartridges. Twenty-two women were killed, 16 of which are interred beneath this monument and another two elsewhere in the cemetery. President Lincoln attended the funeral as chief mourner.
