Wirt Family Vault (Ranges 50-51 Sites 169)
William Wirt b. Nov 1772 - d. 20 Feb 1834. Born in Bladensburg. Appointed by President Jefferson one of the counsel in the prosecution of Aaron Burr, he earned national fame as a lawyer and orator. He served as U.S. Attorney General from 1817 to 1829 under Presidents Monroe and John Quincy Adams. Also in the vault are the remains of his son-in-law, Rear Admiral Louise Malesherbes Goldsborough (b. 1805 - d. 20 Feb 1877).
