The community comes together walking their dogs off-leash over the beautiful 35+ fenced acres. If you want to become a member, please join the wait list by emailing grrr@congressionalcemetery.org. If you have been invited to become a member, sign up quickly.

Our numbers stand at about 450 registered member families and 600 dogs.

Membership is a requirement of dogwalking privileges in Congressional Cemetery. Dogwalkers play a vital roll in the running of Congressional Cemetery:

1) Currently, about 1/3 of our operating income derives from donations by our dogwalking members. That's about equal to the cost of the lawn maintenance contract.

2) Our dogwalking community makes up a major portion of our volunteer efforts. From spring clean-ups to yard sales, from tree removals to envelope stuffing, we count on the dogwalkers to wade in and help make things happen.

3) The presence of dogwalkers at almost every hour of the day constitutes a de facto on site patrol all day long. With watch dog eyes and ears on duty, Congressional is mostly free and clear of riff raff and vandals.
