Blessing of the Animals

Following the almost 800 year tradition continued in honor of St Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Animals, Rev Cara Spaccarelli, Rector of Christ Church + Washington Parish will bless our animals Sunday October, 2nd 2:00 pm at the chapel. All are invited.  Dogs and sheep must be leashed.  Horses must be bridled, and other animals, as appropriate, should be in carriers.

Our pets are important to us and we all want to make sure they are safe and happy.  Please join us for this special occassion lead by Cara Spaccarelli, Rector of Christ Church+ Washington Parish.  Dogs must be on leash, all other animals in appropriate containers.

Come in the main gate at 18th and   Potomac/E Street, SE.

Celebration Concert

Join us as we rededicate our century-old and recently restored chapel organ, with a concert by Charles Humphries. Charles is a world renowned musician and counter-tenor, and we welcome him to the HCC fold! Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Wine and Cheese Lecture: "Death, Dogs and Monuments," by Smithsonian Anthropologist, Laurie Burgess

 Associate Chair of the Anthropology Department at the Smithsonian, Laurie Burgess, will be giving the second lecture in our Wine and Cheese Lecture Series. Entitled, "Death, Dogs and Monuments," Dr. Burgess will be enlightening the audience as to the history of Congressional Cemetery, in a very unique and fascinating way.
